Melissa O'Donnell

Melissa is a true cross-over artist, singing teacher and vocal coach, whose career as a soloist encompasses many genres and styles. She has a music degree from Birmingham University and studied singing at the Birmingham Conservatoire.

 

As a classical soloist, Melissa has performed in oratorio and has given recitals at various venues including St John Smiths Square, St Martin-in-the-Fields and the Institute of Directors, Pall Mall. Radio performances include Kurt Weill's 'Recordare' with Stephen Cleobury for BBC Radio 3. She has also taken part in many recordings - a highlight was working alongside George Lucas and John Williams on the soundtrack for the Star Wars film 'The Phantom Menace'.

 

Most recently, she has performed as part of 'Classic Cabaret' providing classical entertainment for Fred Olsen cruise line and as a regular soloist with the Orchestra of the Swan under the direction of David Curtis. 

 

Melissa often performs as a jazz and popular artist as part of a duo and as part of a six-piece band. She has fronted covers bands fixed by Manhattan Music Ltd and has performed with seasoned jazz performers such as Dave Brown and Simon Woolf. 

 

Melissa is a lover of musical theatre and she regularly includes show repertoire as part of her recitals. She has been the musical director for productions of Jesus Christ Superstar and West Side Story as well as appearing as Alaura Kingsley in a production of Cy Colemans City of Angels. She has also performed at a Royal Gala Charity event at the Drury Lane Theatre in the West End. 

 

Alongside her performing, she teaches private students and ensembles. She has experience running and directing choirs and recently enjoyed working for Rock Choir and performing with them at Wembley Stadium.  She also works as a vocal coach within the corporate sector, helping individuals to develop their communication skills and use their voices more effectively. 

 

Melissa is experienced at performing at a wide range of events and occasions.
